People tend to rush into things or, on the other hand, they sometimes complicate their lives by not knowing what they truly need and want. Choosing an affiliate or MLM program doesn’t need to be difficult. You just have to know what questions should be asked and what are the preferable answers. These are the 5 simple questions a future online marketer and affiliate should ask:

    1. Does the program provide true value?

This should be important (unfortunately, there are a lot of marketers who find this unimportant) because a good product reflects good on the affiliate, gives more leverage to the marketing efforts and ultimately, a product with true value is easier to sell, we feel good about offering it and we sleep like babies with a loaded bank account.

    2. Can the program become automated?

In short, after a certain period of development and growth, which includes marketing and building a downline, the program should offer a level of, or complete automation. Automation of a business can give you a chance for duplication and provides you with a lot of free time to do other things besides work. Imagine having an automated business that earns you a monthly income of $3000 and having a chance to duplicate it five times. It becomes a $15000/per month business. That’s an annual six figure income. Not too bad.

    3. Can I earn a residual income?

Residual income (also called passive income) is income earned on an ongoing basis for effort done once in the past. That means that you get paid over and over again for something that you did only once. This is a great reason to become an online affiliate. Residual profits provide you with security and financial advancement and with it you can only move forward. I have seen many people become millionaires thanks to this kind of a payment plan.

    4. Is it something I could relate to and promote passionately?

Knowledge and understanding of the products you promote is essential to your online success because it provides you with the arguments you need to fall in love with the product and promote it passionately. The best affiliate programs contact you on a regular basis and give you access to all the resources you need to get to know and love your product.

    5. Will I receive support and help?

This is a question you don’t need to ask directly. To ensure that you are not joining a program that will enroll you and then leave you to figure out everything on your own, you must be assured that your upline in the program can become successful and can continue to be successful only if they help you to do the same. If your success depended on the success of the people that you enrolled in the program, wouldn’t you do everything in your power to help them with any obstacle they might come across? Off course you would. In such a program, all your problems should be addressed and solved in a very short period.

These are the five simple questions future affiliates need to ask before they begin their journey on the world wide web. Affiliate marketing isn’t rocket science, although some will try to portray it so. There are rules and there are things that are good for the affiliate and there are those that are bad. Getting a positive answer on these five questions will certainly help you in becoming a success online. And I assure you, you can find affiliate programs who will answer all five questions with a yes. Better yet, they are right behind the corner. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

If you have chosen a career path that leads you directly to your own front door, then you are not alone.  In fact, many people work at home and earn a full-time income, which allows them to keep a close eye on their children, create flexible schedules and save significantly on the cost of commuting.  Whether you’re a veteran home worker or you are just starting out, keep the following tips in mind to help turn your job into a career:

Define a space for your office.  When you work at home, a room that’s free from distraction is a must.  You may choose to convert one of your bedrooms into a home office or you may have a library that will serve as the perfect place to set up a quiet work area.  Whatever your preference, it’s important to define your office space as one that’s not located in a high traffic location of the house.

Promote your business.  As someone who works at home, you may be operating on a limited budget in the beginning.  Whether your funds are tight or you simply believe in stretching your dollar, try your hand at free publicity.  You can promote your business with press releases distributed online, to magazines and local newspapers.  In addition, you may also be able to snag some airtime on the radio if you agree to an interview and your business is one of interest to the general public.

Make a schedule and stick to it.  Just because you work at home doesn’t mean that you cannot separate the two.  Believe it or not, you can still divide your home and work life even when the two are located in the same space.  In fact, it’s extremely important that you learn to do this in order to avoid the feeling of always being at work.  You can help to make this possible by setting a schedule and sticking to it.  First, decide whether you wish to work part-time or full-time and then figure out the hours that are most convenient for you.  If you develop a ‘whenever’ schedule, you may find yourself feeling torn between something that you need to do and something that you want to do.  By having defined work hours, you will know when you are free for leisure and, best of all, you will have the time to enjoy it.

Keep accurate records.  For tax purposes, it’s important that you keep all receipts for business transactions.  This includes purchases of office equipment and furniture, supplies and accessories.  If you have trouble keeping up with all of your receipts, store them in your office in a box with the word ‘receipts’ written in clear view for easy access.

Purchase individual health insurance.  If you are self-employed, it’s up to you to purchase your own health insurance plan.  While many people who work for an employer have this benefit provided to them as part of their employment package, you will be faced with having to search for coverage on your own.  The good news is that health insurance for self-employed individuals is not difficult to find.  In fact, many major insurance companies offer this type of coverage and can provide a quote via the telephone.

It happens so often it’s almost like clockwork. Business blogs are started with high hopes and then disillusion sets in when the results aren’t what they hoped for. A lot of it has to do with these simple but common mistakes.

    Not Asking For Comments

Bloggers always agonize over the lack of comments. But the problem is not that people don’t read the blog or don’t want to comment but the blogger hasn’t given the opportunity for readers to comment. Just like asking for people to order a product, you’ve got to coax people to spend their 3 or 4 precious minutes to comment on your blog. Ask for opinions. People love giving it. Ask for reader’s experiences, input or help to accomplish something. Ask people to suggest something to you e.g. You’re getting incorporated, ask people for suggestions, tips and recommendations. Asking also tells people you’re open to suggestions and alternative views, further improving the image people may have of you.

Not Hosting On Their Own Domain

Give thought into your blog. Don’t just jump on the bandwagon. You need to figure out where it’s taking you before you hop on for the ride. Like any web site you may build, think of your blog as a long term marketing communication channel. A Blogspot or Typepad URL is not only unprofessional, you don’t own it. Nothing against these blogging services; they’re excellent tools but for long term marketing purposes, go for your own domain.

This way you control where you want to publish the blog to. Tomorrow, if you outgrow these services, you can easily export your blog to another tool, another host without losing too much established traffic. A domain is also easier for people to remember and easier for you to publicize.

    Not Maximizing Their Blog Content

Many businesses quit blogging because they feel it’s too much work. True, like everything else, you gotta work on a blog but you don’t have to break your back over it. Sometimes you may have a paragraph here and there about a topic that just isn’t big enough for an article. You know what? You’re going to have many more of these impromptu thoughts and ideas – publish it to your blog. Later, you can come back and gather these paragraphs, compile them into a complete article or even a book.

That’s only one way of maximizing your work. Have you written articles in the past? How about e-courses, audio transcripts or books that aren’t in publication anymore? Recycle. Break them up and post them on your blog. In fact, if you have lot’s of this type of content, you can even get your assistant to post them for you.

    Publishing Too Often

I know what you’re thinking. This sounds like complete the opposite of everything you’ve ever learnt about blogging. Truth is, the blogging world changes. What works yesterday may not today. This is one of them. There are countless blogs already jostling with you for your reader’s time. More are being started by the day.

Who has the time to read so many blogs? It’s come to a point people are forced to cherry pick the blogs they read. Even when they do read yours, you’re not safe yet. If they can’t keep up with your blogging pace, they’ll drop you no matter how good your information is. Keep a balance. Feed information to your readers not dump a truckload on them. Every market is different. Some can tolerate higher number of posts a week, some can’t. You should know your market and test accordingly.

    Falling For Short Term Methods

Ah, this is my favorite. If you can have a favorite pet peeve that is. Every week, you hear about people dishing out the newest, coolest blogging tactic, best blogging tool that’s sure to sky rocket your business to success or bull doze your way to the top search engine listings. Consider how any offer will help you advance your business two, five or tens years from now. Is it really in line with your marketing direction? If it isn’t drop it. It also helps a lot if you can have a reliable source whom you can consult and help put things into perspective for you. One of the most powerful qualities of a blog has nothing to do with search engines, tagging or pinging. These things do have a place, but they aren’t as powerful as the relationship opportunities between you and your customers.

Although these mistakes are common, they are also very easily rectified and don’t cost much money. All of these suggestions are born out of my own trial and error and they’ve worked out nicely. Try it yourself.

Guidelines For Keeping Customers Interested In You

Search engine marketing is a way for your company to draw and keep consumers interested in your products and / or services. By properly including these guidelines into your web design your market will respond.

    Appeal To Your Audience

In regards to written information on your site you want to appeal to your audience. For example if your site is marketed towards kids you wouldn’t use large or complex words, or to the other extreme, if computer engineers are your targets, you want to write to their level. This will ensure that you draw the right audience and that your content relates to your market. This guideline is the most important and stressed topic for search engine marketing. If you do not design information and content to your targeted audience, surely there will be no success.

    Give A Reason To Act

Once you have targeted your audience, give them a reason to act now instead of later. This can be done through offering free products or shipping with purchase or offering a newsletter subscription with frequent discounts and current information. With this type of search engine marketing you want to be sure your not overweighing incentives, meaning selling is the high point to marketing but it should not take over your entire site.

    Offer Competitive Advantages

Do research and find out how your competitors are advertising on their sites. Use this to your advantage by finding what works and what doesn’t. This can go as far as web placement, design and content. Viewers are drawn more to pictures and art than they are text-links. Stay true to your brand while designing competitive and unique advertisements.

    Incorporate Keywords

Keywords are important when consumers are searching search engines. Again do research and see what keywords are used for the best search results of your competitors. Write them down and apply them to your sites content and design. The more keywords that are placed throughout your site the more likely you are to gain higher search results. For further keyword optimization view my article The Simple Basics To Search Engine Optimization.

When designing your site think simple and straightforward. No one likes to skim through endless text or be distracted by large advertisements. Appealing to your audience, giving them a reason, offering competitive advantages and incorporating keywords are all excellent guidelines to optimizing your market.

The rush to blogging as a way of making an online income is well underway, and if it has worked for thousands of other online entrepreneurs, it can work for you! One of the most appealing things about blogs is that they are so simple to set up that even a child could do it, and many children have.

    * Blogs Are NOT Your Normal Marketing Websites

Starting a blog will let you carve out your own small bit of Internet territory, without having to learn any of that confusing .html coding which is essential for building a traditional website.

That in itself is one big reason why blogs are great little income builders. You can set up a dozen blogs in the time it would take you to get a traditional website coded and running. Just head for WordPress and take advantage of their free blog setup.

    * Blogs Are Flexible

You can blog about any topic you like, and have as many blogs as you like devoted to a variety of topics, and you can turn each of them into a mini-money earner.

Your bogs can be the equivalent of the soda or snack vending machines which grace so many grocery stores and gas station entryways. None of them by itself will make their owners rich, but collecting the proceeds from a dozen or so on a weekly basis can amount to a very considerable chunk of change.

You just have to be sure that you keep your material as fresh as the vending machine snacks should be kept, if you want your customers to keep coming back.

    * Making Money Blogging Online Can Be Done In A Variety Of Ways

What does “monetizing your blogs mean? It means that if you want them to make money like those vending machines, you’ll have to have them selling something besides the content you are providing.

Even the most brilliant bloggers, unless they are being paid for their writing, do not make money from blogging without adding affiliate links, or reselling software and ebooks, or offering their blog to Adsense so that their visitors will, if all goes as planned, click on the AdWords and generate a bit of income with each click.

Adsense is the best approach to making money blogging online if you haven’t become an affiliate, or found any information products to sell. But once you get the knack of blogging and have built a following, you can try using all three.

    * One More Thing About Making Money Blogging Online

You can use your blogs to build your mailing lists.

One of the most powerful marketing tools you can possibly have is an opt-in mailing list of people who are genuinely interested in whatever you might be selling, by including a sign-up offer on your blogs – say, a free product like an e-book, you can start creating a mailing list of people who have actually invited you to contact them. How cool is that?

There are many ways to help ensure the success of your home business. Even something as simple as your frame of mind can determine whether or not your home business will be successful. Here are a few tips to help make your home business live up to its potential.

First, in keeping with the idea that a positive outlook helps your home business, remember that not everything is as bad as it seems. When things with your home business are not going well, or you feel frustrated and discouraged, continue on. Perhaps there is a new sale for your home business, or some other bit of positive encouragement right around the corner.

Second, remember that you can do almost anything that you set your mind to do. With hard work and determination, your home business can be all that you’ve dreamed it would be. Don’t let people or problems discourage you or get you to let go of your home business dreams. At the same time, don’t sit idle and expect your home business dreams to happen without your help, either. Your hard work, tenacity, and determination can cause your home business to prosper in all the ways you’ve hoped.

Third, it is important to remember not to let your pride get in the way of what you want to accomplish as a home business owner. Build bridges with your home business customers and other colleagues by admitting when you are wrong, making up for mistakes, and doing whatever it takes to earn their business. Additionally, in your home business, it is important to share credit with any other business partners or colleagues that have been part of something positive. Carrying out these good home business practices will keep you in good standing with your customers and business associates.

Fourth, remember to write down the goals for your home business. It is a proven fact that a home business, or any other venture, will get much farther toward the goal if it is written down. Make a home business plan for yourself. What do you hope to accomplish in your home business within the next year or two? What about five years from now? How can you make that happen? This is beneficial to your home business, not only by causing you to remember your original intentions, but also by helping you to break down your hopes and dreams into smaller pieces of a home business plan.

    1) Reliability

This is not of moment you can fully distinguish by just looking at their website, in consequence you’ll have to obtain a works of research. It’s always a applicable idea to finish a search about the host to find any reviews from past or current clients. To do this, simply search using Google for keyword phrases using the company name. For example, Rackspace review or EV1Servers review, or you can even take a step further, by reviewing the support forums of the host if they have one. There you can easily find as much information as you need. How does this help with regards to reliability? Simple, it can show how fast they respond to complaints and issues by reviewing what past or current clients have said, and postings in the forums can show how they handle customer feedback.

    2) Cost

We are all looking for a value hyped up deal. It’s wanted that we influence in style now market price when election a fired server host. Selecting a $29/month server may not be the top option if it’s backed with poor support and perhaps your server built with recycled hardware. Take note, this is not saying that cheap dedicated server hosts produce low quality service, but I’m saying that in 8 times out of 10 you do get what you pay for. Do price shopping and take note of each host’s price along with their server specs, bandwidth, network, and support guarantees. Review each and then you’ll be able to figure, which one is truly the most cost effective. Is it really worth it to have a $29/month server with only 256 MB RAM which may be slow and unresponsive if hit with a spike in traffic? It’s going to be up to you to weigh those options.

    3) Support

This is toilsome for issues agnate as downtime, ddos attacks and characteristic issues dealing with your server. It is foremost that you express with the help team before purchasing a server. Why? Simply for you yearning to demur their response before investing any funds. If you would rather not send an email or call before making your purchase, if the site you’re thinking about has a support forum, you can register and post your technical question there or review the questions asked prior to get a better idea of how solid their support technicians are with regards to answering questions.

    4) Longevity

This is usually not listed as a bearing as manifold startup fired server companies are solid, but it’s usually a elite risk to lane the twist of cut that a transaction has been in business. You can seal a whois of the host’s domain name to see how long a host has been in business. It can be a good indication that they’re in for the long haul if they’ve been around for awhile. This is not to discredit choosing a new company, as many solid server hosts are started regularly who go on to be huge successes. Simply use your best judgment when reviewing if to go with a host that’s been around for years instead of one that’s now getting started. I should point out here, that in some cases newer hosts will fight harder for your business and give you an overall better support in the beginning in some cases as they really treasure your business. It’s really a toss up here, that’s where your natural instincts for decision making will have to be the deciding factor.

We’re all part of a very special group, us entrepreneurs. Yet, we don’t all enjoy the same level of success. Why is that? We’d like to believe that the rich and successful have secrets that they’re keeping from us, and if only we knew them, or fortunes would be transformed!

Well, there is no magic secret. Sorry. It all has to do with discipline and following a system. With that said, there are some very common mistakes that people make in the day to day functions of their business. These mistakes doom them to a life of mediocrity. They choke the life out of the efforts. Below are four of the most common:

    Not Scheduling

The apparent freedom that comes with working from home can be a double edged sword, especially if you’re just breaking free from the shackles of the corporate world. Unfortunately, whether you’re working from someone else or working for yourself, you must have a schedule. Time is the scarcest of commodities, and you must treat it as such. It is the most valuable thing you’ll ever have to manage, it is priceless.

If you allow yourself to just ‘figure it out’ each day when you wake up, you’ll never get anything done. If you’re honest with yourself, you’ll realize this. With no scheduling and planning, you don’t know what you’re working towards and you don’t know what you’re accomplishing. Most likely, you’ll end up spending most of your time doing tasks that do nothing for the growth (money) of your business. Tasks such as filing, cleaning your workspace, bills, calling customer service for that issue that ‘has to be taken care of today’.

True, all these tasks are in some respect important. But they fall under the category of ‘Operations’. They do nothing for your bottom line, and therefore should be relegated to either someone else to do, or to a block of time where they are addressed together and quickly.

Pick a day during the week – I use Sunday evening – and every week sit down for 20 or 30 minutes and plan out that upcoming week. Based on the goals and stepping stones you have set for your business, what needs to be done this coming week to reach your 1 month goals, 3 month goal, 1 year goal? If you have this process in place, your business will run smoothly. Also take this opportunity to look at the week passed and to review it.

    Not Prospecting

For most businesses, you have to prospect. Just because you’re now working at home does not mean that you do not have to associate with the outside world anymore! Quite the opposite – the very existence and success of your business depends on it!

I have my own preferred methods of prospecting, but I won’t get into that here. There are various methods to use: be it cold-calling, search engine marketing, email marketing, offline marketing, etc. You have to do your homework and pick a mix of marketing methods that will supply you with prospects. Then you have to prospect them.

You need to take the time to learn and refine your communication and prospecting skills. It is an art and skill to be able to prospect and close someone effectively. Learn this, or your business will suffer.

Momentum – Not Running Through the Finish Line

So you now have goals and schedule – great. But what do you do when you reach a goal, especially at the beginning stages of your business? You absolutely should celebrate your successes, no matter how small – but then get back to work!

Watch a race, any race. It could be swimming, running, motorcycles, or car racing. How do these people finish the race? Do they race to the finish line, or do they go full speed right through it?

Treat your business the same way. One mistake I see too many people do is celebrate and relax too much at every little sign of progress. Give yourself a pat on the back and a smile and keep going. Building momentum is so key to making things happen in business. Every time you stop, you kill any momentum you have built and you have to start over. Keep refining your goals and adding to them so there is always a next step. Don’t kill your momentum. Make sure you run through the finish line.

Marketing – Not Enough Of It!

Ah, the big one. Let’s put it very simply: If no one buys from you, you have no income. If no one knows your business exists, then no one can buy from you. If you do not market, then no one knows your business exists.

Therefore, if you do not market your business, you have no income.

    Agreed?

If you don’t like marketing – start liking it. There are so many ways to do it, find a few that you enjoy and make it fun. The fact is, the majority of your time should be spent MARKETING. At least 60% of your time, if not 80% should be spent marketing.

Go through your typical day and think about what you spend time doing. How much do you spend marketing? If you’re like most people, you probably spend less then 20% of your time marketing. Therefore if you’re like most people, you’re not making any money with your business and like most people, your business will fail.

Get the word out! Find the people that already want what you have, and get in front of them. There is not a lack of ways to do this, so get out there and learn and MARKET.

Agreed? If you need ideas or you’re struggling with this, just get in touch with me and I’ll help you out – that’s not a problem. Just get out there and Market Your Business.

You need targeted internet traffic and sales for your online business to survive. Here are three ways through which you can increase traffic and boost sales to your website.

Your website is ready. It sits there while you wait for anyone to come to your site, check your products, and yes, hopefully, to order something! However, it has been months and you are getting really frustrated. Your products are not selling and you are losing money.

What you need is some internet traffic. Sadly, internet traffic doesn’t just come without you working on the advertising and marketing aspect of your e-business. If you would just keep on waiting for any traffic, your website would end up buried by your competitor’s websites.

Your ultimate goal is to generate targeted market traffic. You are aiming for gaining your target consumers’ interest and drive them to your website. There are many ways that you could use to generate traffic. Below are three ways that you can employ.

    Number 1: Search Engine Optimization

If people search through major search engines, type in natural keywords and your website comes up, chances are you could expect more website traffic than you could handle. This is your ultimate goal — ranking heavily on every search engine in the internet.

However, this does not happen overnight. It takes a lot of time and effort in order to achieve this objective. Your aim is to make your presence felt and known in the internet by becoming one of the top sites in the results page when a keyword query is made. As such, you could try filling your website with articles reflecting the relevant keywords.

Remember though that SEO takes time. It is advisable, therefore, to employ multiple methods to generate more web traffic. However, you could always try buying traffic from vendors to generate website hits. You could buy traffic with Google’s and Yahoo’s pay-per-click program. What you do is determine and identify your target market’s possible keywords and bid for these words or phrases. This may be costly but it would generate hits. Of course, it doesn’t end there. You have to keep your customer’s interest with an interesting website to begin with.

    Number 2: Syndicate your site

There are many websites that would allow feed burning. You would have to create Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds that would link your content and blog to other websites.

Make sure that you are providing informative and interesting information in your blog, though. RSS feeds may increase website hits but they will not generate profit or sales leads, if in truth, your website is bland and boring

Number 3: Create useful, informative and interesting article content

Again, it doesn’t matter if your website is generating thousands of hits. It also doesn’t matter if suddenly, your website is generating more traffic than you could handle. What is really important is that you are earning profit out of this traffic.

You need to provide your prospective customers with quality web content. The content should be responsive to their need. Write as many articles as you can or hire someone to write them for you if you want. You must provide your customers information on how to solve their problems. Keep your articles fresh, updated and relevant to your customer’s needs or problems.
